PubliPress Plus is the result of dedicated R&D work and considerable investments in paper machine technology, and it offers quality and printing properties unparalleled by competing SC products.
"We've observed some interesting trends in the publishing industry," says Tomas Larsson, VP, Product Segment SC & MFC at Stora Enso Paper. "With increasing importance being placed on both the environmental and financial aspects of distribution, many publishers are now looking for lower grammages. Some publishers are also moving towards smaller page counts, but as this may seem like a less appealing offer, publishers tend to at least want more volume in their paper."
SC papers tend to have little brightness and gloss variation. Attempting to decrease grammage typically results in a flimsy feel and poor opacity, while increasing volume by skipping the smoothening phase produces a much rougher surface with virtually no gloss. In terms of printing performance, these are all bad news.
But thanks to an improved super calendaring technique and advanced equipment, Stora Enso has been able to overcome these limitations with the new PubliPress Plus.
"Stora Enso is now the only producer to offer an SC paper with the usual brightness and gloss."
"Stora Enso is now the only producer to offer an SC paper with the usual brightness and gloss, and as much as 10 per cent added bulk at the same time. We have also received a tremendous amount of positive feedback about the paper's soft touch and feel. And versatility is another aspect we're very proud of: PubliPress Plus was initially designed for heat set printing, but our tests indicate it works great with rotogravure as well."
